Averee, 10 Months

QUICK STATS
weight: 19.8 lbs, girlfriend is plump
height: 29 in
clothing size: 9-12 months
diaper size: 3
shoe size: 3

Ave just turned 10 months on the 4th. Absolutely insane! My heart wants to explode. We just brought her home like yesterday, right? Jordy is always saying "she isn’t our little baby anymore, she’s a little human now" like she wasn’t one before or something, but I guess I see what he is trying to say. There’s something about her becoming a little girl that makes me want to press pause and leave it there forever.

This past month, she has been absorbing everything! Her little personality is precious (most of the time). We have seen such huge leaps in her mental and physical growth. I can’t imagine her being any more fun than she already is, but I’m sure it will only get better.

AVEREE 10 MONTHS
  • loves the broom, and to get into moms piles of grossness as she goes
  • gives big bear hugs when she’s sleepy
  • stands up on her own and takes 3 or 4 steps at a time
  • cruises around the furniture like its her job
  • loves otter pops (thanks Kristie)
  • likes to tell us what she thinks. when our ideas are not her ideas. when this kid can use her words, we are in trouble

LIKES: grabbing everything, throwing it down, and moving along. She loses interest quickly. avocados, leftover cobs for sore gums, patty cake (she knows when to clap, and when to put her hands in fists to “roll it”) being held, getting into every single cabinet in the house

LOVES: mickey mouse clubhouse, warm long baths, saying every word except mama, waving hi and bye, dancing, her car seat, her pacifier

DISLIKES: wiping her nose, face, hands… no wiping of any kind is acceptable, sleeping in her own crib (record crying 2hrs 10mins), being told no, changing clothes, when dogs get all up in her bizz-ness

TEETH: zero, nada. I’m starting to get a little worried that the kid is going to be toothless

TRAVEL: this month we hit Denver in the beginning for her first nationals race. She didn’t have such a great time because she got very sick and dehydrated. Then we made it up to our family cabin in Vallecito for a weekend away with the grandparents. Lastly she took her first camping trip outside of the belly for a five day trip in Silverton, CO for the Fourth of July!

EATING: lots of veggies, pretty much anything mashed up that she can gnaw on with her gums

SLEEPING: still up 2 times a night only because we are disturbing her since she is still in bed with us. I know, big slap on the wrist! Transitioning this week to bed at 7:30-8:00 in her own crib!

Our 4th of July: Colorado, You Have My Heart

I've been away for a long time guys! Wedding planning has taken over ALL of my free time. The date is approaching really stinkin quick, August 30th to be exact. Thats only like 54 days, which makes me cringe. I still have SO much left to get done. May not be the best excuse, but it is the one I'm using. I'm so excited to get back on track with you guys though.

So it was Ave’s first Fourth of July, and boy did she have such a blast. Every year my parents and a ton of cousins make their way up to small town, Silverton, CO to do some camping and enjoy all of the small town festivities.

On Wednesday that was where the LO and I were headed. The fireworks are SO big and amazing and awesome. Did I say amazing already? Silverton is a gorgeous teeny tiny town in the middle of the rocky mountains. Without this holiday and the train that runs through it, it would be a serious ghost town. Their parade, contests, and evening firework show though bring in an insane amount of people.
town population: 700
on the fourth of july: 10,000
That should give you a good idea of the craziness.

Wednesday night it was just baby and I with my mom out at camp. We sat by the fire and played lots of cards. Jordy headed up Thursday after getting off work and we broke off and camped with some good friends from our missional community group that night. It was Averees first time in a tent. Holy balls it was cold! Then we were up bright and early to grub down and get back to town for the big parade! Mardi gras beads and lots of salt water taffy. yum. The firetrucks came in for the close. Warning: you are not safe from getting a shower. If they see you running away, they will get you. Hide your babies. Hide your cameras. Then we hung around town which ended up being a pretty wet afternoon. Things cleared up just in time for the fireworks show. Baby slept through the whole thing. There's always next year! We ended up camping for one more night with our friends. So glad we did. Ave hung right with us around the campfire the whole time, playing in the dirt and sharing melted marshmallows. She was really all about the sparklers though.

Saturday morning we packed up camp and went back down to my families spot. My mom never misses the opportunity to spend alone grammy time with Averee. Jordan and I took her up on her offer and went on a 5 hour ride over a huge pass on the RAZR with my dad. Beautiful doesn’t do it justice. Gods country in Colorado is unlike an other.

One last night of campfire, fireworks, and cherry bombs awaited us back at camp. Can you imagine how bad we smelled at this point? gross. Forget about how we looked.

We packed up the next day and headed home. That shower was heaven. Seriously. Averee smelt like a wet dog, cute I know. What did you guys do for the big three day weekend? I would love to hear all about it!
